Accessibility

Hever Castle regret that it is not possible for visitors to use motorised wheelchairs or mobility scooters inside the Courtyard or Castle due to the historic nature of the building and its contents. Wheelchairs are available for a refundable deposit of £25 at the Hever Shop. It is advisable to book these prior to a visit. Manual wheelchairs are allowed on the ground floor of the Castle however from the drawbridge there is one step down to the Gatehouse followed by three steps down to the Courtyard.

From the Courtyard there is one step up and down into the Castle’s Entrance Hall. Wheelchairs cannot be taken up staircases inside the Castle for health and safety reasons. For more information on accessibility please visit our website https://www.hevercastle.co.uk/visit/location-accessibility/

For less mobile visitors please be aware that it is approximately 315 metres from the main ticket huts to the Castle forecourt. If you wish to visit the Italian Gardens this is a further distance to walk.

Restaurants

The Moat Restaurant is self-service and sells hot and cold food, snacks, cakes and drinks. This restaurant is nearest to the Castle and shop and approximately 95 metres from the main entrance ticket huts. Tables cannot be pre booked and works on a first come first served basis. Hot food is available from 12.00pm until 15.00pm.

The Pavilion Restaurant is the larger restaurant towards the back of the grounds next to the lake. As it is at the back of the grounds less mobile passengers may struggle with the walk. There is no golf buggy access to the restaurant so you would need to walk there.  This restaurant is only open when there is either an event running or during peak season.
