Day 1

We depart for Lancashire, making comfort stops en route and arriving late afternoon at Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel.

Day 2

This morning we journey to the Victorian seaside resort of Southport to explore pleasant gardens and the elegant Lord Street shops. This afternoon, we visit the WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre, where accessible hides and wide flat pathways help you spot the huge variety of wildlife. You’ll also have the chance to observe a flock of resident flamingos and otters.

Day 3

Today you’ll have the chance to explore Bury Market - often voted market of the year! Browse from over 350 stalls before enjoying Bury at leisure and grabbing lunch. Later, we make our way to Riley Green Marina and board a narrowboat cruise along the Leeds Liverpool Canal. The scenic 2-hour cruise passes through stunning countryside, all while you enjoy some afternoon tea.

Day 4

Tour the historic Leighton Hall Estate with a guided visit this morning - exploring the home of the Gillow furniture-making family. Weather permitting, our tour ends with a bird of prey display. Spend the afternoon in Lancaster, exploring its castle and historic landmarks with free time within the city.
