Day 1: Arrival at the Peebles Hydro Hotel

Day 2: Discover Melrose, renowned for its abbey and gardens, followed by a visit to the Great Tapestry of Scotland.

Day 3: Explore the ancient town of Biggar, known for its independent stores and award-winning shops.

Day 4: Visit Edinburgh, including the Palace of Holyroodhouse, and enjoy free time to explore the city.

Day 5: Departure after a relaxing breakfast at the hotel.

Day 1

After a taxi pick up from home, we start our journey to the Scottish Borders, arriving late afternoon at Peebles Hydro Hotel.

Day 2

Our morning takes us to the picturesque town of Melrose where we have the morning to explore and enjoy the scenery. Perhaps visit Melrose Abbey or one of the town’s gardens or museums.

Later we make the short journey to visit the Great Tapestry of Scotland - a wonderful gallery displaying 12,000 years of Scottish History through tapestry. Over 1000 volunteers spent more than 50,000 hours in the creation of this masterpiece. The tapestry was the brainchild of author Alexander McCall Smith who was inspired by the Prestonpans Tapestry, along with artist Andrew Crummy. The Great Tapestry of Scotland was completed in 2013.

Day 3

Today we journey to the ancient town of Biggar to explore the many independent stores. There is an award-winning grocer, a famous ice cream and chocolate shop, and an award-winning fish and chip shop. Later, we return to Peebles for free time in the town before heading back to our hotel.

Day 4

We head to Edinburgh today, for a visit to the Palace of Holyroodhouse - the home of Scottish royal history and the official residence in Scotland of His Majesty The King. Explore the palace's close associations with some of Scotland’s most well-known figures such as Mary, Queen of Scots, and learn how it is used by today’s royal family when carrying out official engagements in Scotland.

Afterward, the rest of your day is free to finish exploring Edinburgh and gather gifts and mementos before we return home tomorrow.

Day 5

After breakfast, we say our goodbyes to the Peebles Hydro Hotel and start our journey back to Sussex.
